Press Release: Portal Site Redesigned
Sandpoint Web Site Gets a New Look
Logical Expressions, Inc. Revamps Large Portal Site
Sandpoint, ID – One of the most popular sites about the Sandpoint, Idaho area has been redesigned. In addition to a simpler navigation structure and a clean, easy-to-read interface, the new Sandpoint.com now features in-depth profiles of local businesses and an ecommerce store with Sandpoint-themed products. Sandpoint’s own Logical Expressions, Inc. recently completed the ambitious project of revamping the large portal site.
Sandpoint.com gets more than 100,000 unique visitors per month, making it one of the most popular Web sites about the Sandpoint area. Local entrepreneur, Eric Skinner originally created the site after buying the domain name from a company in Boston, Massachusetts. He worked with a Web development group and launched the first version in late 1999.
Logical Expressions, Inc. was uniquely positioned to do the makeover because the company wrote most of the original software that runs behind the scenes at Sandpoint.com, including the large searchable real estate database at http://realestate.sandpoint.com. Featuring all the properties in the Multiple Listing Service, this custom Web database software has reliably been serving up real estate information for years.
According to Logical Expression’s President, Susan Daffron, “Our goal was to make sure that Sandpoint.com is a people-friendly site with something for everyone – vacationers, out-of towners, and our local community. When we design Web sites, we focus on accessibility, and this site is no exception. We used decent-sized fonts and clear navigation, so even older users can read and use the site easily. The redesign also will make Sandpoint.com more accessible to search engines like Google.”
Sandpoint.com has had a number of different looks over the years, but it has always featured an abundance of photographs and information about the area. Eric Skinner took many of the pictures on the site, most notably the stunning aerial shots.
“We tried to keep all the visual interest the site has for people, including the photos,” said Daffron. “But we were concerned about local residents who can’t get high-speed connections. So we made sure the site is usable on a dial-up connection, without pop-up ads or other bandwidth-wasting annoyances.”
Daffron pointed out that they are still working through updating some information, and residents are encouraged to let her know if they find out-of-date listings or problems. “I do answer my e-mail, and we’ve already received some great feedback from people in the community. A Web site is always a work in progress, and every little bit helps!”
